About the Artist - Amélie Legault

📍Montreal, Canada

Amélie Legault is a French Canadian artist who creates realistic animal illustrations with a funny touch. Laughs assured! Amélie works with gouache painting in her home studio in Montreal. She studied fine art and art history. She started her artistic adventure in 2013, with 6 pink flamingos birthday cards. She then wanted to draw more local animals and she drew them riding bicycles, just because, well it is hilarious! Since then, Amélie did athletic kiwi birds, fashionable hens wearing all kinds of shoes and animals talking on vintage phones. Her art work is available as prints to decorate your walls. She lives with her husband and two stepdaughters in a quiet neighborhood of Montreal, where you can surprisingly cross wild turkeys, geese and coyotes at the park or in the street.

Fun fact: Amélie is allergic to all pets, so her family adopted Fake-Cat, Faux-Chat in French, a very realistic cardboard cat bought on a trip to Amsterdam a few years ago. You can sometimes see him on her Instagram account.
