Grant Shepley is a digital illustrator and graphic designer based in Cape Town, South Africa, with over 15 years of experience bringing bold ideas to life through illustration, branding, and apparel design. Known for his love of visual storytelling and graphic experimentation, Grant thrives on turning unexpected concepts into striking, wearable art.

A lifelong creative, Grant has been working professionally since 2007 across a wide range of creative industries, specializing in branding, print design, packaging, clothing design, and custom illustration. His career includes five years as Head Graphic Designer at GUESS Jeans South Africa, as well as senior design roles for international fashion brands such as GUESS Jeans and POLO—experiences that shaped his understanding of fashion-forward design and large-scale commercial production.

In 2009, Grant began designing graphic T-shirts, a passion that eventually led him to leave his 9–5 role in 2018 to focus on building his own creative ventures. He founded Gamma Ray, his graphic tee brand, showcasing a vast catalogue of original designs created since 2009. His work is sold through global print-on-demand platforms and online retailers including Threadless, Amazon, Etsy, Redbubble, and more, with plans underway to launch his own dedicated online store.

Alongside Gamma Ray, Grant is the founder of Grant Shepley Design, his graphic and digital design agency—formally established in 2024 but operating independently since 2018. Through the studio, he works with an international client base, designing everything from apparel graphics and brand identities to advertising campaigns, web and e-commerce visuals, book and album covers, product packaging, and social media content.

Grant describes himself as someone who loves thinking up random ideas and obsessively bringing them to life. A self-proclaimed fanatic of ancient civilizations—particularly Ancient Egyptian and Mayan cultures—his fascination with symbolism, history, and ruins often influences the iconography and visual depth in his work.

His achievements include being a 20-time winner on Threadless.com, a 10-time winner on Springleap.com, and a three-time recipient of Caxton’s Highly Commended Awards. Today, Grant balances expanding Gamma Ray with custom illustration and design work through his agency—continuing to push graphic storytelling into new territory — in collaboration with DenimINK.
