Vincent Hie is a digital illustrator and visual artist born in Indonesia and raised in Amsterdam. Although his academic path began in psychology—studying Labour and Organizational Psychology at the University of Amsterdam—art has always been at the center of his life. After graduating, Vincent spent two years working as an assessment psychologist at a burnout clinic, but throughout that time, he never stopped drawing, painting, and creating.

Art, for Vincent, is both passion and instinct. Fascinated by shapes, forms, colors, and even sound, he has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. In the early 2000s, he made the challenging transition from traditional tools to digital art, teaching himself to work with Photoshop and a drawing tablet. The shift was not immediate—it took over two years to fully adapt—but today, digital tools such as his Wacom Cintiq feel like a natural extension of his creative mind and hands.

Vincent’s painting style is defined by clarity, precision, and a high level of articulation. Attention to detail is central to his work, resulting in images that are visually striking, carefully constructed, and technically refined. He considers himself an all-round artist, comfortable working across a wide range of genres and themes, and deeply enjoys the challenge of adapting his style to meet specific creative briefs.

Collaboration is an essential part of Vincent’s practice. Drawing from his background in psychology, he values communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, and sees himself not just as an executor of ideas, but as an active participant in the creative thinking process. This approach has made him a trusted collaborator for clients around the world.

Vincent’s artwork has been printed globally across products including apparel, mobile phone and gaming console skins, cars, posters, RPG playing cards, and book covers. He is also one of the key artists behind the global phenomenon Big Face™, a project that has sold over three million shirts worldwide—evidence of his work’s powerful connection with audiences. Balancing artistic precision with creative versatility, Vincent Hie continues to evolve his practice, creating artwork that resonates across cultures, industries, and formats — in collaboration with DenimINK.
